Snow? Really? Oh, to be a kid again!

Where along the way from childhood to adulthood, do we lose our love for the snow? It must happen when snow = a chore time rather than play time. When it snowed this past Saturday, my kids were just itching to get out in the snow while chanting "Mommy has to shovel, Mommy has to shovel". Ugh.

Oh to be a kid again.

You waited in line for HOW long...?

On Friday night we (me, Ab, Ethan, Shanda, Mike, Park, Landon, Grandma & Grandpa) visited the "Pumpkin Walk" in Syracuse, apparently so did everyone else living within a 30 mile radius. We stood in line for 1 hour and 40 minutes (according to my very logistics-minded father). There were at least 200 carved pumpkins, I'm surprised my dad didn't keep a count and divide it by the number of minutes spent in line! :-) It was pretty cold out, but the kids had a great time, they especially liked the Disney & cartoon pumpkins, they also got a few treats along the way. All in all, a pretty good time. I have posted a few of our favorites. We missed having you there Dirk! This means I don't have to carve my own pumpkins, right?

Pumpkins Galore

I took the kids to pick out a pumpkin on Saturday. They had a great time climbing & toppling the huge stacks of pumpkins. Ethan was determined to find one that he could carry on his own, while Abbie found hers within the first two minutes of arriving. Next step? Carving time...I admit I'm a little scared.

10/24/08, 10 Years, Baby!

Dirk sent me these lovely flowers for our 10th Anniversary. Ten years sounds like a long time, but at the same time, it has gone by so quickly. Our kids are 7 and nearly 5 (whoa!), and let's not forget, we're both 10 years older (and hopefully wiser).
Happy Anniversary!

TEN years ago on this day was my wedding day. How time flies. I never knew my life would be such a rollercoaster ride; complete with exhilerating highs, scary drops & unexpected turns. Marriage has not been perfect, I never expected it to be, but I find value in learning from our mistakes and becoming stronger for having dealt with them. Most importantly, we have a created a family, of which I am very proud (love you Abbie & Ethan). So, Dirk, here's to us and to our future! Happy Anniversary!

Change can be good...so they say...

So my sister & her family just came for a visit over the 4th of July weekend. It was really great to see them because it has been two years since their last visit! The kids have grown like crazy and we had a lot to catch up on.

Get this, the week after they return home, Mike finds out he has been laid off, and BOOM, they are planning to move back to Utah after living out of state for 5+ years.

While we are sad for them & the circumstance which brings them back, we are happy that they are coming "home" so that we can share all the family stuff with them that we have not been able to these past few years.

Below are a few photos of our summer activities this year including Lagoon and 4th of July. Nothing too exciting, but a little bit of sun and fun for the kids. Hey, I'm just proud to have put some pictures together & have them posted in a somewhat timely manner! Yay me!

My First (fill in the blank)

Six year-olds lead very exciting lives, just ask one! This year Abbie lost her first tooth (now she is up to a total of SIX teeth lost). She also learned how to ride a two-wheeler and is clearly now an expert at it. She even gives advice to those inexperienced 5 year-olds! She also earned her first trophy...very exciting stuff! I suppose we must also mention the first day of school, first fieldtrip, and most recently, her first time going down a waterslide by herself. Oh to be a six year-old again. Every day is an adventure!

Happy Everything

Okay! What better way to start a new blog than by posting a bunch of photos from the past six months, covering all of the special occassions from Halloween to Easter! I have been thinking about getting this blog started, and have final followed through, so...hopefully I will get some comments from the people out there that I know and love but never get to see! Enjoy!
